CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2013 ELLIS & ELLIS PHOTO CONTEST WINNERS!
1st Place - Jan Ward
"This photo was taken on Armed Forces Day at Veterans Memorial Cemetery in NW Houston a few years back. I attended this very moving military ceremony with both young and old proudly participating. This group of older veterans held my attention because of the way they continue to proudly wear the uniform after many years, even decades of their lives. I am always moved when our national anthem is sung or the Pledge of Allegiance is spoken. I was especially proud to be an American on this occasion as I saw the respect these veterans showed to both. They depict only a small glimpse of what this country stands for, its pride and its strength and the personal sacrifices by those who have bought the freedom which we today are able to enjoy. God bless our military and the United States of America!"

Nations Saved.....Freedom Reigned"

"These are the men who took the cliffs.
These are the champions who helped free a continent.
These are the heroes who helped end a war."
- Ronald Reagan
"I confess. I am a patriotic American. I love and respect our flag. I love to say the Pledge of Allegiance and am thrilled that my 4 year old grandson can say it proudly with hand over heart. I have traveled all over the world and know for a fact that America, troubles notwithstanding, is still the greatest county in the world! I eagerly look forward to flying my flag on all designated 'flag days' and many days that aren't. If my flag shows the least bit of wear, I properly dispose of it (through the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Boy Scouts) and replace it. I am proud of my country and its flag. Yes, I am proud to be an American because it truly is the land of the free and home of the brave!!"
