What the Pros are Saying
Jay Haas – 2006 Insperity Championship Winner
“I’ve played very consistently this year, but have only had one good chance to win. I’m still not where I want to be, but I’m pretty close to playing well. Maybe winning here will change that.”
“To be near the lead the whole week is the mark of when you are playing well. Michael Allen is doing good things right now. He’s confident because he’s playing well, and he’s playing well because he’s confident. Not sure which comes first.”
“The course looks in great shape. Tonnes of shots out there are difficult and have always been hard. I feel comfortable here knowing where you can miss it.”
Michael Allen – Winner of Two Straight Champions Tour Events
“The course looks phenomenal. I have not seen the course in better shape really. The fairways are perfect and the greens are beautiful. Looking forward to a great week here.”
“(To win three in a row) God, it’s hard to put those kind of things into words. I don’t really know. You know, I feel like I’m playing good. I don’t feel it’s something that far-fetched. If I play well this week, I should be in contention.”
“Once you get a little confidence, too, you start feeling how you can win and maybe it’s a little easier to. I realize the chances are slim, but I’m going to go out and get a good practice in this afternoon and try to be as ready as I can.”
Mark O’Meara Withdraws from Insperity Championship
Mark O’Meara pulled out of the Insperity Championship with a rib injury just prior to competing in Thursday’s Pro-Am. O’Meara will be replaced by James Mason.
Quote of the Day
“I’ve loved watching these guys since I was a kid and got an autogaph from Arnold Palmer. One of the only autographs I got in my life at the ’66 Open at Olympic Club. Jack is an icon. To watch Lee Trevino hit shots is just one of the great things in golf the way he spins the ball right and left, and what a great personality. And Gary Player is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met in the game. All four of them are icons of the game, and it’s a great honor to have these people here.”
